A-Tisket A-Tasket...

Three months! My Aunt Pam has knitted a blanket for each of our children. Over six (gasp!) years ago, some dear friends gave us a basket FULL of baby goodies for Emerson. I have a picture of each of our babes in this basket with the blanket from my Auntie. I thought it would be fun to put them side by side. My conclusion: They're definitely all ours! And...could they get any cuter?

Now, since you have seen how abundantly blessed we are, will you take a minute to head over to THIS blog? This precious family has walked a difficult road of grief and loss. They have walked it with grace and humility, trust and hope. Read their story and take a peek at their "Share the Love" fundraiser. Seriously...it is FULL of fun packages including one for your own baby boy or girl (or amazing baby gifts!), your home, for fashion, and a highly talented local photography session. You can help them bring home a BABY. Truly a win/win. A bid as low as $5 could win you a fabulous package of fantastic items. Bring them a bit closer to holding a priceless package, win some great stuff, or possibly BOTH!
Share the Love Adoption Fundraiser...a sampling of what you could win. Put in as MANY bids as you can to increase your chances of winning and decrease their financial need.

Thunder Cake

Seven years have passed since I "retired" from my previous life of teaching kindergarten. But I still remember reading the book, "Thunder Cake", to my class. When I saw it at the library a few weeks ago I thought I should snag it and read it to my ever-present and growing "class". The timing was perfect when a stormy and thunder-full afternoon rolled into our week. We snuggled up and read "Thunder Cake"...and then we had a whole lotta fun. While it thundered and poured we emptied the pantry and made a fabulous mess in the kitchen. Instead of tears about the loud thunder they were counting between flashes and crashes and giggling with excitement and anticipation until the cake was in the oven. Now, the book provides a recipe for thunder cake that we faithfully followed...all the way down to the tomato puree. But there was no frosting recipe so we used this one from my favorite recipe website...Delish. I didn't take ANY pics of our giant mess as we were having too much fun to remember a detail like that! If you use your imagination I'm sure you'll get a good picture in your head of every bowl and measuring utensil I own either covered in chocolate or cleaned well by little tongues and faces. If you think really hard, you can see flour and sugar and cocoa trails on the counters, floors, and most everywhere.

This is a sweet book turning a scary afternoon into a courageous adventure. And, I think my kids have a little less fear now when the afternoon storms roll in.

4 Generations

My grandparents and my aunt made the trek to a scorching weekend in CO from the cool breezes of San Diego. What a treat for all of us! Ed and Adda Sheldon are a priceless pair that have lived their love and commitment as a gift to many. They have blessed us with their generous hearts and for as long as I can remember, they have been intentional in building relationship with us, their grandchildren. I hope that someday I will mean as much to my own grandchildren.

My cousin Austin. They love him...maybe more than he would like!

Very blessed to claim these two as mine.
Isn't it incredible that this summer they each turn 81 and will celebrate 61 years of marriage!

I cherish this: That my children know and love their great grandparents and that my grandparents know and love my children.
